Innovation Without Friction
The Challenge
The Perich Centre for Robotics & Health Technology at the Ingham Institute of Applied Medical Research required an AV environment that could match the ambition of the work happening within it.
The brief was to create a modern, high-quality audio and visual experience across a diverse range of spaces, from everyday huddles and meetings to research collaboration, medical technology showcases and large-scale events.
Flexibility was essential. Technology needed to support staff throughout the working day without dominating the environment, while being powerful and reliable enough to transform the facility for presentations, demonstrations and events when required.
The Solution
The AVIT Group delivered an integrated AV solution designed around flexibility, simplicity and reliability. Microsoft Teams Rooms with BYOD capability provide a consistent meeting experience throughout, supported by Q-SYS cameras, Sennheiser ceiling microphones, distributed audio and intuitive Crestron touch control. Room booking panels make shared spaces easy to find and manage.
The Innovation Space can operate as two independent meeting rooms or combine into one larger collaborative environment, allowing the technology and room itself to adapt to different requirements. Portable Microsoft Surface Hubs provide additional collaboration spaces throughout the Techhub and can be repositioned to support events and functions when required.
At the heart of the Business Lounge is a 165-inch Samsung 1.5mm pixel pitch LED wall, creating a high-impact visual centrepiece for presentations, events and medical showcases. Integrated video conferencing, ceiling microphones, cameras, speakers, wireless microphones, BYOD connectivity and hearing augmentation allow the open-plan space to transition seamlessly between everyday use and larger functions.
The Robotics Lab extends this capability into a space designed to showcase emerging medical technologies, with integrated displays, video conferencing, cameras, ceiling microphones and presentation connectivity supporting demonstrations and collaboration.
The Outcome
The Ingham Institute now has a flexible, future-ready environment where technology enables the work rather than getting in its way.
Teams can move from a quick huddle to a formal meeting, combine spaces for larger collaboration, or transform the Business Lounge for an event without needing to rethink how the technology works.
More importantly, the Centre provides researchers, clinicians and industry partners with an environment designed to support collaboration and showcase the technologies helping shape the future of medical science.
It’s a prime example of what modern corporate and research environments can achieve when AV is considered as part of the experience from the outset: high quality, intuitive, flexible and ready when it matters.
For The AVIT Group, it also reflects a philosophy we share with the Ingham legacy: doing the right thing, and doing things right.
